Parallel Linkage

To go from heavy corn residue or cover crops straight to seed-ready beds in a single pass requires rugged, intelligently designed equipment. Unlike mounting systems that transfer draft force solely through U-bolts that can stretch, distort and break, Orthmans heavy-duty force-through-mount design and wedge locking system join steel to steel to stand up to the rigors of strip tillage.

For less soil variation and better planter stands regardless of the crop, Orthmans innovative parallel linkage design allows 8 inches of vertical travel, allowing you to maintain a consistent depth and fertilizer placement regardless of the field terrain.

Individual row unit depth control allows the 1tRIPr to precision till and fertilize at the desired depth across the entire machine, regardless of the terrain.

Utilizing gauge wheels for depth control can often place fertilizer too deep, and too shallow across the entire machine.

Depth Band Coulter

The rugged 22 depth band coulter easily slices through surface and sub-surface residue to eliminate interference with the shank while it simultaneously maintains precise control of seedbed depth.

HD Row Cleaners

Because a clean row is where seeds grow, Orthman created an adjustable row cleaner featuring rugged 16 notched disc blades to remove residue from the planting strip, leaving behind a clear path for your planter to follow. Easy pin adjustment means theres no need to get out your wrenches to add extra row cleaner weights for heavy residue.

Precision Tillage Shank

Root zone conditioning is critical for maximum root growth. To eliminate compaction layers that roots cant penetrate, you need a rugged shank that completely shatters soil compaction zones. Orthmans precision tillage shank breaks up clods and hard layers, increases water filtration, eliminates subsoil voids and promotes vigorous root growth through all stages of seed development.

Among the benefits of precision tillage is the creation of a better seedbed that promotes early emergence and more vigorous root growth. Orthman agronomists have determined that precision tillage produces soils that are 1 to 7F warmer in the strip-till zone. This, combined with the proper soil density created by the shank, is very conducive to root elongation and early lateral root development of the seedling root, allowing the seed to quickly establish a root system that will not only anchor the plant but help it sustain life throughout the growing season.
